

Muscat: Assigned by His Majesty, His Highness Sayyid Bilarab bin Haitham al Said, Minister of State and Governor of Muscat, inaugurated Greater Muscat Structure Plan this morning at the Experience and Sales Centre in Sultan Haitham City, Wilayat of al Seeb.
The launch marks a major milestone in Oman’s urban development journey, introducing a comprehensive vision to transform the capital into an integrated, future-ready metropolis driven by sustainable growth, diversified economic opportunities, and an enhanced investment climate. The plan draws on Muscat’s natural beauty and historical identity while aiming to deliver world-class quality of life and long-term urban competitiveness.
During the event, His Highness toured the exhibition hall showcasing the core pillars of the Greater Muscat vision: Productive Muscat, Green Muscat, Resilient and Safe Muscat, and Vibrant Muscat. Officials provided detailed presentations outlining how each pillar will contribute to shaping a balanced and sustainable urban environment in the capital.
His Highness was also briefed on the latest developments of the Al Thuraya City project, including its design features and implementation progress, through an interactive model presented at the venue.
The programme continued with a visual presentation at the theatre highlighting Muscat’s urban identity and architectural character, reflecting the city’s evolving design philosophy rooted in heritage and modernity.
He later visited the “Royal Trust” exhibition, which displayed Royal approvals for a series of future cities across the Sultanate of Oman. The showcased projects emphasise human-centred urban planning models, placing quality of life and community wellbeing at the heart of development strategies.
His Highness then proceeded to the viewing platform overlooking Sultan Haitham City, where he observed ongoing construction works and was briefed on progress rates, implementation phases, and upcoming milestones. A detailed master model of the city was also presented, illustrating its urban structure, infrastructure systems, and planned public facilities.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, His Highness Sayyid Bilarab received a commemorative gift from Dr Khalfan bin Said al Shuaili, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning.
The event was attended by a number of Their Highnesses, Excellencies, senior officials, and representatives overseeing the project.
